LU Land breakfast seminar #30: Valuation of biodiversity - how well do existing tools work to meet society's needs?
When social development leads to changes in land use, decision-makers need to weigh different values and interests against each other. One challenge that arises in such decisions is that some values are not always easy to quantify, which risks leading to lower priority being given to values that are difficult to quantify, such as biodiversity. Tools that support the quantification of biodiversity, for example, have therefore long been requested by society.
Welcome to an LU Land breakfast seminar where we explore the advantages and disadvantages of using tools to assess nature values before decisions on, for example, exploitation or ecological compensation.
