Talk: Sustainability #1

The way forward for the Global Goals
Seventeen goals, twelve years to go. How can academia make a difference?

Talk Sustainability 9 march 2018
Emily Boyd, professor and director of LUCSUS, hosting the first Talk: Sustainability together with Henrik Smith, professor and director of CEC and Sustainability Forum.

Emily Boyd, Director at LUCSUS hosted the first Talk: Sustainability at Lund University when around seventy researchers, master students and social representatives met on March 9th for a talk on the global goals. Emily started up with her reflections on possibilities and challenges for research connected to the global goals, as well as some tips for new collaborations and calls for financing. She pointed out that there are both tensions between some of the goals, but also possibilities for synergies and trade-offs to be inspired by in interdisciplinary research.

In the discussion following Emily’s presentation the way forward to reach impact was one of the subjects that came up. How can you combine passion and values as an individual at the same time as you are an objective researcher? Another question was how the work with regional development strategies in Skåne can be further connected to research through test beds etc.
