New Formas Project: Save the basin! A multiplayer game about water shortage
– The project has suddenly become very topical because the future drought that was predicted in the proposal, suddenly came reality here in Sweden in July, says Joshka Wessels, researcher and project leader of “Save the Basin”.
The project will apply Virtual Reality and stereoscopic 360-degree video technology to let people travel to both Jordan and Sweden and compare the daily lives of farmers in both countries coping and adapting to droughts and water shortages.
– To carry out the project, we will film with the latest stereoscopic 360-degree video camera technology in Kävlinge watershed in Skåne and in Jordan to document drought and how farmer’s livelihoods are affected in both countries. The project will produce a digital cooperative management game for four players, using VR headsets to show the players how a water basin can be managed sustainably.
