About me

For people to remember me, I introduce myself by saying, "Hi, my name is Phil and I'm from the Philippines. So it's Phil from the Philippines". It is also a good way to start a conversation. I moved to Sweden in August 2019, but I have been living in Europe for over 6 years. Apart from being part of the Agenda 2030 Graduate School, I am also affiliated to the Department of Business Administration at Lund University, and K2, which is Sweden's national center for research and education on public transport. When I am not working, I´m usually moving around and traveling, keeping in mind how my travel behavior affects the environment.

About my research project

One of the targets under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) is to “provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all”. Technological advancements have introduced potential solutions to help government agencies and the transport industry to meet this target. My research focuses on one of the products of these advancements, which is micromobility. In particular, I will evaluate the environmental motivation of micromobility users or those who use shared e-bikes and e-scooters on an as-needed basis. The main objective of the study is to determine whether these users have the environment in mind every time they choose to ride these microvehicles instead of taking other forms of transport. By looking at this, I will be able to determine whether micromobility can indeed reduce reliance on private vehicles, especially on cars, or it just replaces other sustainable transport options such as taking the bus or using own bicycle.
